Judaism is Psychedelic with Madison Margolin (A Four-Part Jewish Psychedelic Series)
Judaism is Psychedelic: Exploring Judaism as a Container + Catalyst for Expanded Consciousness will explore how Judaism can serve as a framework for preparing, navigating, and integrating psychedelic experiences. We’ll learn about utilizing rituals, holidays, and spiritual practices as grounding tools, and incorporating Jewish wisdom from blessings and breathwork to ritual and reflection to expanded consciousness. Madison will be incorporating teachings from luminaries like Rebbe Nachman and the Baal Shem Tov to find meaning and direction in altered states
Course Outline:
Session 1- Introduction - Clarifying concepts: What do we mean by "Judaism is psychedelic?" And how can we use Judaism—including the calendar, practices, and wisdom— as the set and setting for altered consciousness?
Session 2- Practice- What embodied Jewish rituals and practices can you take on before your journey, use while you navigate it, and continue with to pave the way for your integration phase? Think dance, breath, hitbodedut, movement, song, scent, etc.
Session 3- Wisdom: What does Judaism say about ego death, getting through a "challenging experience," and utilizing prayer as a technique for expanding our consciousness?
Session 4- Heritage: How can we honor the legacy of our ancestors, the guidance of our calendar, and ancient rituals, like ktoret or niggunim, as part of our modern day psychedelic practice?
Each session will feature elements of text study, group discussion, and guidance on practical application.
