Prayer and Planetary Consciousness (Digital Download)

Join Shefa and Rabbi Ami Silver, our Mashpia - Director of Emergent Education - for an exploration into the roots and essence of prayer.

Humans have been praying since the beginning of time, sensing that there is “something” out there, a greater force or presence that we can turn to and commune with. Our earliest ancestors prayed not from a siddur and not in a minyan, but from a sense of wonder and need directed to that which lies beyond. The essence of prayer emerges from something deeply natural and intuitive within the human experience - and yet, traditional prayer practice often appears as something very different than this – instead as institutionalized religious ritual with prescribed words, images and movements.

In this session, Rabbi Ami Silver will lead us on a journey through Jewish texts and teachings that connect us to the primal roots of prayer that stem from our deepest nature and our connection with our home –the earth. Together we will study and practice an approach to prayer that depends on, and enhances, our innate interconnectedness with the earth, the forces of nature, and all life on this planet.
